Energy Reduction

Updated: Jul 11, 2020

Thursday, January 10th & 24th, 1 to 2 pm on www.wioxradio.org or 91.3 FM

We’re taking Transition Streets to the airwaves! Transition Streets is an award-winning program designed to support you, and the people you live with, to make simple, practical changes to your home and to your habits.

Households that participate in the program typically save about $900/year on expenses and reduce carbon emissions by 1.3 tons.

The workbook covers five areas: Energy, Food, Water, Waste and Transportation.

In January, we’re covering the Energy chapter over the course of two sessions on our radio show, Here Comes the Sun (where we explore the sunnier side of sustainability.) Our featured guests are Jeff Potent, who teaches sustainability at Columbia University; and Catherine Scott with Delaware River Solar.

February 7th and 21st, we’ll cover the Food chapter.

If you’d like to have your very own copy of the workbook, you can get one from Transition US here.

And if you’d like to try the program on your street, contact our coordinator,

kz at transitioncatskills.org and we’ll set you up with workbooks and even facilitate your first meeting.

We hope you’ll join us as we explore ways of saving energy, street by street.
